Understanding our silks

Texture and feel are SO important with scarves. Here is an overview of the silks we use for our scarves. We have worked hard to source the perfect options so you will love your scarf from the moment you feel it.
_________
Silk Habotai – the lightest silk that we offer, which makes it a gorgeous option for super drapey scarves. Its name originates from a Japanese word, which literally means "feather-two layer". Silk Habotai is lightweight, 100% silk fabric. It is an absolute classic.
Silk Charmeuse – which is a French word meaning “charmer’’ – refers to a specific weave of silk that is shiny and lustrous on one side with a matte finish on the reverse. Silk charmeuse fabric is uniquely soft with a lustrous drape. It can be made from silk from silkworms, but charmeuse can be made with a polyester and rayon blend, so it is good to be careful. This Charmeuse silk is 100% silk! An excellent insulator, and keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Silk Modal – is a silk blend with a wood pulp based cellulosic fiber made from beech tree extract. Often nick-named Vegan Silk. The cellulose extracted from the beech trees is spinned manually and blended with raw silk to make it into a beautiful modal silk fabric. Better than cotton. Also, reducing the amount of silkworms that are harmed in making it, which is very appealing to people who try to curb the use of animal-derived materials, or products tested on animals.
Any of our silks are a wonderful choice and we are confident you will love your scarf no mater which silk you select. Enjoy.
